Welcome to the new site, everyone! I spent pretty much the entirety of the past weekend making it, so I hope you like it. I even spent too much time archiving my blogs onto Wordpress (all the way back to April 2013 when I started my original site) and imported blogs here dating back to the beginning of my photo internship at the Kalamazoo Gazette in January 2016.

July was a pretty great month, especially the 5th of July. That was my first assignment for the Tyler Morning Telegraph that was an all-day assignment. Our reporter Cory and I spent the whole afternoon hanging out at Karma Farms, a 130-acre family farm in Marshall, Texas, devoted to the breeding and preservation of Colonial Spanish mustangs. It was a hot day, but everyone at Karma Farms was happy to be out with the horses. We went on a trail ride before departing, then drove close to the Texas-Louisiana border to get some shots of Caddo Lake at golden hour for another story.

I was already in high spirits after a full day of good shooting when I got news on the way back to Tyler that I was accepted to be a student for the Eddie Adams Workshop. Only one hundred students from across the United States and beyond are chosen, so I thought my chances had been slim to none. The workshop takes place in October and I can't wait to meet and learn from so many wonderful people in the photojournalism industry. Ended that week exploring Dallas with my friends Ryan Michalesko and Dougal Brownlie for Dougal's birthday.

The energy from that day carried me through the rest of the month, and especially for the week and a half of busy days when I was the only shooter while our chief photographer was on vacation. Orientations, graduations, rodeos, camps and more made up the rest of this month. Here's to finishing summer strong in August!
